There are many Points to cover but here are basics You need 1 Tune ability ,
hho is a Random mix of gas it is a fuel but random in ratio O2 to hh and as it is pre mixed.
Kinda of like putting gasoline in a coke can and allowing vaccum through a hose
to fuel the engine it will run but it is random and untuned and random in results.
Split gas gives a better tunability and understanding of what is occuring.
2 Diesel are idleally suited due to compression, and the fact that only 40-60 % of diesel is actually combusted, in modern diesel or countries we can say the higher side of that % but how to we know?
We must as professional fuel mixers know the Rating of the diesel or fuel being used what is its octane or combustion value diesel fuel rating
In most low grade countries or fuel distributors they mix diesel with other oils and make bio diesel which lowers the combustablity and rating as a fuel. it is a trivial but important thing to keep in mind.
When looking at the fuel and mixing to get better combustion yield result,
hh and the o are very important the hh will raise the octane or fuel rating of the deisel whether it is a high grade or low grade fuel. this will impart more hh into the fuel,
the o is very important to know and tune really you want to be removing the nitrogen and adding as much o2 as you can for several reasons, 1 O2 is vital to cut the emissions it is the part that clean up the fuel and encapsulated the nox sox emissions with out it you still have pollution even if you replace some fuel directly with hh.
2 O2 controls the burn rate of the fuel, we want higher combustion rate of the existing fuel instead of burning 40% we want 90% of diesel burnt as a target this unlocks the value in the fuel. so several things can happen we need less diesel and less hh.
When we understand the above we can start thinking more as a tuneable fuel way..
and go on the path of metering back the diesel and fuel pressure, note you can develop these tuning skills for these hybrid applications, when you tune or meter back the diesel fuel pressure or amount the engine will run , but if you turn of hh and o of coarse you have change the fuel mix and it won't start keep that in mind when you go over 30-40% direct fuel replacement.
3 you don't need alot of hh + o but you do need to understand the mix ratio
if you adding small amounts of hh and O2 what you in effect do in the first instance is trying to unlock the value in the 40-60% of the fuel that is normally un combusted you do that and it is less about fuel replacement and more about cutting emission and gain fuel value with more complete diesel combustion.
So that should be the thinking path and of coarse with these tuning paths, we scal up and more we have tune ability , precise metering the more we can understand the step of meter mix up the fuel ratios, and than mechanically tune back diesel as we go up in hh and o.
For Example Stan meyers Made a lot of money selling, nitrogen filter membrane for Trucks in USA which filtered out the nitrogen from air and allowed more o2 into the engines. this give fuel gain and better emission cuts, this is where the path came from.
So the above is small amount of hh and more of O thi sis in low percentage to get result something like 2-10% hh+o air fuel replace to unlock the 40-60% un burnt diesel
so 2-10% + 40% minimum target than means 30 % -50% is the real target with minimal hh+ o addition and tuning.
Due to the small amount it has no effect on valve or engine metal embrittlement except to clean them .
flame speed and burn speed rate and temp is controlled by erg valve
the nitrogen,oxygen ration to the fuel mix you have stan stated with that knowledge could co equal the burn rate of gasoline or any fuel by meter mixing.
Stan Invented the Erg, several fuel injected components like digital accelerator
tps and other items ecu items he made them, we now have all this off shelf.
things like diesel rail pressure sensor etc etc etc are now at our disposal,
You can not that there are many full replacement ecu now
which have open fuel maps now,which means we can tall sensor to do what we want and rpm to do what we want.
I call it hydrogen hotting, if you want to learn about it spend a few week end at a drift race sop or dyno shop for drifting the new young kids have tuning skills for this tech and have many ecu and ways round the sensors.

Now for 10o% fueling it is different
Yes there can be metal embrittlement and it is important to design for what you doing.
At present I am focusing my company and work on fixed engines large power generations and large water pumps which run 24 hrs.
We have design 2 engine options in multiple power rating and sizes,
2-4 hr operation Standby options 50 kw - 1 mw with basic valve change and fueling for 100% h2 20 litre to 120 litre engines as pur eh2 is thin and what I call micro nano fuel it will leak past vales this is ok for fixed rpm application if you design for that. But engine in option1 can't take full load compression and high speed nor run 24 hrs , What I mean is it is beyond warranty if running for long hrs over 4 hr at full load.
Option 2 we have
24 hr prime power continuous operations full load warranty 150 kw - 1 mw
these are Community and mining type solutions can run from flare gas and gas pipe line grids 20 litre to 120 litre engines these have custom top in for h2 can handle High rpm up to 9000 and can run continuous with full loading and have detailed warranty for such ,
For both of these options for 100% fixed engines we have fuel makers that produce 100Nm3/h of h2 and we install to solar or power to gas site to fuel these engines or fuel cells. The oxygen is vented to the air, so this is our immediate goal to sell alot og these kits as the Large fixed engines running on deisel are the thing killing our planet.as the combustion rations is as low as only 40% from diesel on big power plant engines
for other examples of fuel mixing some people are adding lpg to come on at a certain rpm hydrogen can also to that it does not have to be on from start up unless you down tune prime diesel fuel engine for it that it has to be there same goes for lpg.
